Bright Leaves, Small Town

Jacket: Urban Outfitters; Sweater: Fresh Boutique; Tights: Urban Outfitters; High socks: Urban Outfitters; Boots: Steve Madden; Beanie: Urban Outfitters

Ever heard of bright lights, big city? Well here’s my twist–bright leaves, small town.
Coming back to my small childhood hometown, I was mesmerized by the colors of fall, especially the red leaves. In Florida, everything is it’s basic green self. Here in Texas, fall has taken reign.
I wanted to reflect my fascination with the leaves around me by wearing the maroon tights. I also love wearing high socks over the tights to give the look more details and layers. The soft jacket and sweater are fitting for the chill of the approaching winter. Regardless of the lack of snow, the creamy white sweater serves as a fitting substitute. Contrast the soft and fuzzy with some weathered combat boots and you’ve got the essence of nature.
Like the maroon tights, the bright leaves are unique. They stand out among the winter-chilled trees and fight against the brown around them.
Isn’t that similar to what an inconformista does? We fight against conformity to express our unique creativity displayed through fashion. Conformity is a strange paradoxical phenomenon in itself because eventually, we are all subjected to it at one time or another. Whether we admit it or not, we eventually conform. That’s something that Twain had proven when he wrote, “Corne-Pone Opinions.” The secret that makes fashion our passion is the fact that we become intrigued with conformity–always looking for ways to escape it’s grasp. Hence, our obsession with trendsetting. That’s our only escape. Once we begin following trends, we are right back in the cycle of conformity. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not necessarily a bad thing! It’s a part of life–as natural as the bright red leaves. The fun part is finding the loopholes of conformity–being able to escape it momentarily and set ourselves apart. That uniqueness allows us to march to the beat of our own drum, if only for a moment. XOXO

Eye for Details

Coat: Urban Outfitters; Pants: Shore; Boots: Steve Madden
Mesmerized by the pants yet? Cause I am… The moment I saw these pants I knew I’d have to have them. When I originally started styling my uniform I would always wear the craziest pants I could find and many of the reactions would often include, “Holy pants!” From then on, I was known as the crazy/holy pants girl. In this case, holy pants indeed!
I wanted the sole focus to be attracted towards the pants, so I decided to go basic on top and pair them with some killer combat boots. These boots are have become some of my prized possessions and a must-have for fall and the approaching winter! The gold heel detail differentiates them from any other combat boot. It’s the little details that can go the furthest in fashion!
Think about it:
Details help paint the bigger picture, so whether you are a “big-picture” kind of person or have an eye for details, they both accentuate each other and work together in harmony. Don’t shy away from your “eye-for-detail,” embrace it. XOXO

Cloud Nine

Sweater: Zara; Pants: Zara; Scarf: Modcloth; Boots: Steve Madden

There’s something about this scarf that makes me giddy with joy. The beautiful blue-green color integrated with specks of gold makes me want to shout with joy, while the bubbly knitting makes me want to laugh with delight! Plus, it’s an infinity scarf that wraps around without any end–it’s a never ending source of fascination for me. My hair reflects my giddiness because it is what I’d like to call my “unicorn bun.” As I walk around my combat boots I can usually feel my bun bounce with each step!
Any time I wear combat boots I automatically feel more in touch with my independent, resilient side–as if I could face anything and come out on top. There’s a toughness to them that makes me feel confident.
Meanwhile, the gold-infused creme sweater and multicolored pants pair perfectly for a fall-inspired look. The sparkles of gold on the sweater also attributed to my vibrant state of mind. The outfit as a whole made me feel like I was on cloud nine with giddiness (although I’m pretty sure the bun induced this).
There’s an outfit out there for everyone that makes us feel giddy with joy like this one does for me! The only difficulty is finding that outfit, so I urge you to look (to the ends of the earth if you have to!) for your joy-inducing outfit. XOXO

Baffling Mysteries

Outfit: Fresh*
Over-sized and clunky sometimes works perfectly in your favor. For fall, these types of outfits are a must. This eccentric jacket is incredibly versatile and can work as a dress because of it’s over-sized quality (there’s nothing better than a multifunctional wardrobe I’d say!) The quirkiness of the jacket perfectly reflects the mural in the background. Now, the dress on the other hand pulls similar elements but also contains this pure simplicity that helps contrast the jacket. There’s almost a sort of innocence held in the color of the dress that pulls the outfit together. The cutouts in the dress add a touch of mystery, similar to the vibe you get from the mural, that contradicts this innocence.
There’s something baffling about the mural because of how eccentric and quirky it is. I almost can’t get over the strange beauty of the mural by Pixel Pancho. It’s different so it requires you to almost stare at it for a little while to try to figure it out. No matter how long I stare, I still can’t quite wrap my mind around it. I’ve had a few ideas spark in my mind about what the robotic creatures represent for society today, but I would love to know what you think! If you have any ideas or meditations about the mural and what it represents, please feel free to share!

Top and shorts: Urban Outfitters; Bag: Shore*
Graffiti–it’s raw, creative, edgy, and bold. It’s an expression of opinion. It’s a bold statement. It’s a form of art when done the right way. Graffiti is viewed as a big no-no, yet it attracts the attention of anyone that passes by. The funny thing is, fashion contains these attributes as well. Mixing the two together…well, that’s just rare. Fashion requires you to be inventive, unique and creative to attract attention. Sometimes, it takes trying out a few fashion “no-no’s” to think outside of the box and set yourself apart.
With this outfit, I wanted a simplistic-edge that would contrast the bold colors of the graffiti. The black top has leather shoulders that are a popular trend this year. Likewise, the high waisted shorts are trendy and embellished with metal to add to the edgy vibe. Considering the fall breeze can chill anyone to the bone, tights were added. The pattern on the sides set them apart then any other normal tights!
Now the clutch on the other hand provides that pop of color and ties in with the graffiti. The cobalt blue is even more electric when paired with the sleek black and white. It also allows the outfit to stand out from any ordinary black and white one. This unique bag can be found at Shore in Sarasota, Florida! If you’re ever in need of a pop of color, this bag is the perfect addition! Just like the graffiti, this bag catches anyone’s eye. The best kind of fashion can do just that–catch the eye. XOXO

Beacon of Light

Outfit: Shore*

These pants bring me back to my Mexican roots. They remind me of the days when I would roam the markets in Guadalajara, looking at all the different hand-made jewelry, bags, and clothing with colorful patterns. I used to be mesmerized by all the patterns that surrounded me. The pattern on these pants are similar to the ones I would find in the markets. They are traditional Mexican patterns that represent vibrant life. Just wearing these pants gives me a rush of renewed energy and vibrancy!
The multitude of colors in the pattern are like a beacon of light among all the drab brown colors of fall leaves! When you have such a bold pattern like the one on these pants, it’s better to balance it out by being simple on top. Paired with a rich emerald green jacket and striped blouse, it leaves room for the pants to do the talking! Initially, the pants are the eye-catchers, but once they catch your eye, you notice the beautiful rich green of the jacket and the cool way it’s structured. Next, most people would notice the sleek striped blouse tucked in underneath, just barely peeking through. The simplicity of the top balances out the pants and emphasizes the chic-sleek vibe. Fashion is like a work of art. Everything must work together in harmony, which is why this vibe was necessary!
Luckily, I was able to find this outfit at Shore in Sarasota, Florida! I’ve never found pants as unique and stylish as these, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I definitely recommend checking them out! If you’re more on the simplistic/sleek side, the top and jacket are perfect to represent their variety in clothing. At Shore, you can style any way that suits your preference! XOXO

From Twain to Now

*Outfit: Shore boutique
Since the days of Mark Twain, skirts have been high-fashion trend setters. In Twain’s “Corne-Pone Opinions,” the hoop skirt was the biggest trend–every woman had to have one!
Now, dramatic statements can be made through unique skirts; this is such a skirt. There’s a sophisticated boldness held in the pattern and structure of the skirt that differentiates it from most. I especially love the way the skirt can be rotated to reveal different patterns for multiple looks! As for the top, it’s structured design and gold-geometric embellishments reflect the boldness of the skirt. It also provides a touch of edge that perfectly contrasts the fur vest. The fur vest has a rich, deep purple and black, which helps provide the elegance of the outfit (not to mention it’s great for fall). With each piece being so bold, this outfit can definitely become a fashion statement. One that would reflect the bold and exotic, the elegant and powerful, the unique and beautiful.
You could only find such an outfit at Shore in Sarasota, Florida. Nestled in St. Armand’s circle (an area filled with boutiques and restaurants), Shore is definitely among the most popular. They carry unique fashion brands that often reflect the surfing vibe, yet (as you can see) can be viewed as high fashion. I never have difficulties finding something unique, and often enough, the difficulty lies in not wanting to take home the whole store! This is one boutique I definitely recommend checking out (you can even do some online shopping with the holidays coming up)!
